The Common Platform Hardware (CPH) department in Military Avionics and Helicopters (MA&H) seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer. The department develops and sustains advanced avionics hardware for military aircraft, including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video modules and control panels. Technologies used include FPGA, CPLD, ASICs, Power
PC, Intel, ARM, ARINC 429, MIL‑STD‑1553, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, SMPTE, DVI, Display Port, and analog video interfaces.
- Design circuit cards for avionics computers.
- Attend review and planning meetings to collaborate with other engineers.
- Troubleshoot circuit cards or full computer‑design hardware in a lab environment.
- Design test solutions that prove design compliance.
- Oversee qualification testing and root‑cause failures.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to less‑experienced engineers working the KC‑46 integration part of the program.
- Travel approximately 10% of the time as needed.
- Obtain a DoD Security Clearance after day‑one of employment.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Experience in an electrical engineering role.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
- Experience developing hardware requirements with systems and subsystems teams.
- Experience using standard lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Proficiency in schematic capture of mixed‑signal digital/analog circuits.
- Printed‑board layout expertise.
- Experience interfacing with complex embedded devices (microprocessors, graphics processors, memory).
- Experience in digital logic device development, including FPGA and ASIC.
- Formal qualification experience (e.g., DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810/MIL‑STD‑461).
- Understanding of Design‑to‑Cost (DTC+), Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM), and Design‑for‑Test (DFT).
