Senior Principal Display Systems Engineer; Onsite

At Collins Aerospace, we’re seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our vibrant Display Products department. This onsite role focuses on developing cost‑effective, innovative display technologies for both commercial and military avionics, driving strategic projects and collaborating with top‑tier engineers in hardware and software design.

Location:

Cedar Rapids, IA, United States.

• Serve as a display system architect, creating technical approaches that build upon product line foundations while ensuring alignment with internal and external customer expectations.
• Lead the architecture and design of display products, interfacing directly with internal business units to meet project and organizational goals.
• Ensure compliance with Collins Consistent Engineering Processes and program/product requirements as detailed in design plans.
• Demonstrate technical expertise in avionics, contributing to the technology roadmap and maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

• Deep insights into the development of certified flight deck displays and cutting‑edge technology integration.
• Enhanced leadership skills through driving diverse teams and projects that impact the aerospace sector.
• Strategic management capabilities, navigating complex project requirements and supplier dynamics in a global setting.

• Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 7 years of experience.
• Leadership experience in developing certified aerospace products and managing significant technical projects.
• Demonstrated experience creating architecture across cross‑domain collaborations.
• Knowledge of avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, DO‑160, DO‑254, DO‑178B/C.

• Optical or displays engineering background.
• Strong multi‑mode communication skills, able to coordinate across groups and influence senior management.

Competitive salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD, based on experience and qualifications.
