Principal System Safety Engineer - Product Safety; Onsite

Position Summary

Principal Systems Safety Engineer – onsite role in Richardson, TX. Requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance. The role supports program development through system safety techniques across all phases of the program life cycle.

• Support design and development teams to develop, assess, and verify System Safety related requirements for mission‑critical systems.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate hazards and risks associated with mission critical systems.
• Develop Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA), System Safety Assessment (SSA), System Safety Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Hazardous Materials Management Report (HMMR), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Apply MIL-STD-882E and SAE ARP 4761 standards.
• Act as a System Safety subject matter expert for engineering and business leadership.
• Participate in technical proposal and basis of estimate preparation for System Safety scope.

Typically requires a STEM degree with minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.

• Must possess U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E and SAE ARP 4761.
• Experience with systems engineering lifecycle and application of system safety techniques.
• Knowledge of systems architectures and designs.
• Understanding of military aircraft‑related missions, functional operation, performance specifications, and validation techniques.
• Familiarity with agile development and model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) framework via CAMEO.
• Experience using industry recognized tools such as CAFTA, Windchill, Relyence; knowledge of AC 25.11 and AC 25.1309.
• Good presentation skills.
