We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer with substantial flight or operational aviation experience to join our Avionics Advanced Technology team. This group supports the Avionics Strategic Business Unit in researching, maturing, and transitioning innovative technologies that enable next‑generation capabilities. Near‑term focus areas include next‑generation flight deck design, enhanced systems automation, and technologies that improve safety, operational efficiency, and reduce pilot workload.
In this role you will support the team by educating them on current aviation operations and contribute to rapid prototyping, concept development, and early‑stage demonstrations that shape future flight operations. This role is onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Lead and support development activities for next‑generation flight deck architectures and technologies
- Contribute to the definition and refinement of future flight deck Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)
- Support the development of internal advanced technology strategies and roadmaps
- Assist with the planning, tracking, and execution of multiple research and technology maturation projects
- Coordinate engagement with pilot and operator groups to evaluate new concepts, gather feedback, and influence design direction
- Apply operational aviation experience to ensure solutions meet real‑world needs and align with emerging industry trends
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience
- Must be a U.S. Person (eligible for ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware)
- Significant pilot or flight operations experience (commercial, military, ATP, CFI, UAS operations, dispatch, or equivalent operational background)
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, including SCRUM, and tools such as Jira
- Systems engineering experience in avionics, human factors, automation, or flight operations
- Experience supporting prototype development, flight deck evaluations, or operational concept assessments

USD 132,400 – 251,600 (depending on experience)
