What You Will Do
- Develop integrated cockpit and mission systems for military fixed wing applications.
- Interface with customers to understand the user’s mission and needs for cockpit and other aircraft system solutions.
- Develop and maintain requirements documentation.
- Develop interface and specification documentation for aircraft avionics systems.
- Develop test plans and test procedure documents.
- Integrate software functionality into existing avionics systems and hardware.
- Execute systems testing in the lab setting to verify functionality and requirements.
- Execute aircraft ground and flight test activities where required.
- Continuously grow avionics systems architecture knowledge and background.
- Configure avionics system data flows, interfaces, and traffic between hardware and software components.
- Leadership in cost and schedule management.
- Leadership in risk and opportunity management.
- Preparation and management of project bids and estimates.
- Platform/aircraft level systems domain knowledge for systems, products and/or subsystem functionality within fixed wing platforms.
- Engineering support for “end-to-end” program execution/ownership – Requirements Definition, Design/Development, System Test and Customer Support (Internal/External) where applicable.
- Communication and collaboration across platform and subsystems teams to achieve technical development and systems objectives and milestones.
- Engage in and lead civil and military certification efforts across programs in the department.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- Experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering disciplines with effective technical leadership during pursuit, capture, and execution of programs.
- Prior project management experience as a domain Project Engineer (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting Platform Systems level design activities and program pursuits.
- Experience with cost and schedule management methods.
- Experience with requirements capture and management.
- Experience supporting testing activities during the avionics development life cycle.
- Experience with capturing aircraft and system requirements.
- Experience with systems and software integration activities.
- Experience with software host‑based simulation environments.
- Experience with avionics systems engineering following certification practices.
- Good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while balancing priorities and schedules.
- Experience working effectively in highly collaborative environments and a demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and lead technical efforts spanning multiple stakeholders.
- Self‑sufficient and able to work independently, owning the responsibility to collaborate and seek guidance/support as needed.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
