Systems Engineer II – Mission Systems Airborne and Ground Communication Products
Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is looking for an experienced Systems Engineering professional to join our Mission Systems Airborne and Ground Communication Products Department in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role involves designing and developing military products that ensure secure, protected communication for the U.S. defense community.
What You Will Do- Collaborate with a dedicated, high‑performing team to drive the development of airborne and ground communication products, delivering secure mission‑critical solutions.
- Contribute to all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including trade studies, system architecture, requirements definition and allocation, traceability, integration, verification, and qualification.
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure successful execution of key program milestones.
- Provide systems engineering support for bids and proposals, contributing to technical strategy and solution development.
- Perform daily tasks in a classified and controlled lab environment.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Systems Engineering requirements, integration, validation, and verification skills.
- Technical experience, mentorship, and exposure to influential individuals within Mission Systems.
- Collaboration with radio subject‑matter experts, security and crypto certification specialists, and cross‑functional integrated product teams.
- Knowledge of security‑hardened products and exposure to evolving business environments.
Must Have
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience with the systems development process, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, and transition to production.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Preferred
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance before start date.
- Experience in an Agile environment.
- Experience communicating with program stakeholders.
- Experience with tools such as DOORS or CAMEO.
- Software language experience in Rust or Python.
- Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering.
