Overview
IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets. IES is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the symbol IESC. FieldEngineering Responsibilities
- Redlines: Leads and superintendents oversee submitting changes to the scope of work. Redlines are completed and submitted to engineering by Field Engineers. Engineering maintains an internal calendar to track tasks and deadlines for finalization.
- Build‑out: Field Engineers verify that all infrastructure is installed to design/specifications. If changes occur, they finalize redlines for close‑out.
- Fiber: An internal tracker records changes for ISP. Field Engineers verify all fiber scope against updated designs.
- Copper: The copper tracker provides all information needed for close‑out. Field Engineers serve as the point of contact to ensure installations match prints, issue redlines as necessary, and verify before close‑out.
- Network: When required, Field Engineers work with the team to configure details and assume primary responsibility for related redlines.
- RFI Referencing/Implementation: Field Engineers reference RFI redlines as the final task before QA review.
- Test Audits: After project completion, Field Engineers run and verify audits, confirm cable schedules, and produce audit packages. Retests are requested and completed according to the project schedule.
- Lessons Learned: All engineers and QA update this document continuously. At project end, teams review and submit a standardized lessons‑learned template based on the lessons‑learned tracker.
- Warranties: Toward the end of the build, Field Engineers gather required documents and coordinate with a designated team member to secure warranties.
- Product Submittals: The first submittal is completed after the RFP is issued. The template is largely a copy/paste of the BOM and product sheets, verified against purchase orders.
- Labels: Field Engineers print labels before installation to avoid delays. Labels are organized by area with a sign‑out sheet for leads; reprints are emailed to engineering with justification.
- RFIs: Field Engineers may oversee all RFIs before submission, ensuring design feedback is recorded as lessons learned and formal acceptance/rejection is communicated to the appropriate teams.
- Design (Shop Drawings): Field Engineers verify and brainstorm quality issues, submit drawings into BIM
360, and keep revisions, hyperlinks, and other updates current. Focus areas include:- Infrastructure (Grounding/Bonding)
