Principal Electrical Engineer - ASIC​/FPGA; Onsite

Position: Principal Electrical or Computer Engineer – Microelectronics Technology Team

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA – 855 35th St NE, BLDG 166

Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required. Active, transferable DoD Secret clearance required.

• Requirements capture and design of ASIC/FPGA digital architecture using RTL.
• Timing closure, verification, and system integration.
• Recommend new tools and practices for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to engineering estimates for new programs.
• Provide technical leadership for project design teams.

• Minimum 8 years of STEM experience in electrical/computer engineering, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• Active, transferable U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start.
• Experience with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL or Verilog.
• Digital circuit architecture and timing analysis/closure expertise.
• Testbench development for RTL verification (VHDL/System Verilog).
• Proficiency with ASIC/FPGA synthesis and simulation tools (Model Sim, Synplify, Quartus, Vivado, etc.).
• Familiarity with version control (Git, Subversion).

• Best‑practice chip‑level verification techniques (constrained random, functional coverage).
• ASIC/FPGA lab validation experience.
• Ability to work autonomously with a multidisciplinary team on aggressive schedules.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Design for Test (DFT) and manufacturability experience.
• Experience with Unix, scripting, C/C++, Perl.

Salary: $107,500 – $204,500 USD, based on experience.
