Manufacturing Electrical Engineer (Second Shift, 2:00PM – 10:00PM)

Job Overview

The role supports manufacturing test and related manufacturing functions for the Displays and Flight Systems IPT at Collins Aerospace’s Cedar Rapids facility. The engineer works independently and collaboratively to resolve production issues and improve test processes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications for complex products.
  • Eliminate or reduce test defects and improve test yields.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve test failures.
  • Apply standard engineering and manufacturing principles to develop solutions for broad‑scope technical problems.
  • Implement and maintain test methods for sub‑assembly, module, and top‑level product manufacturing and testing.
  • Provide technical assistance and training support to floor test technicians.
  • Maintain test documentation, ensuring accurate change management for all test documents.
  • Resolve conflicts in documentation and process definitions.
  • Develop knowledge of test systems and hardware, and recommend producibility projects to reduce support costs.
  • Analyze test data using statistical process control to proactively reduce test flow inhibitors.
  • Assess test approaches and plans for cost‑reduction opportunities.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree in a related field).
  • Manufacturing, troubleshooting, or test experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
