About the Role

A leading Data Center Specialist Owner's Representative is seeking two experienced Commissioning Managers to oversee the commissioning lifecycle of large-scale, mission-critical data center construction projects in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key leadership role on high-profile data center developments, ensuring successful delivery, system performance, operational readiness, and seamless turnover of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Owner's Representative overseeing the full commissioning lifecycle of mission-critical data center projects.
  • Lead coordination among commissioning stakeholders including General Contractors, commissioning agents, MEP subcontractors, design consultants, equipment vendors, and owner team members.
  • Develop and maintain Commissioning Plans and Commissioning Schedules aligned with project milestones and turnover requirements.
  • Review and coordinate commissioning documentation to ensure compliance with project standards and industry best practices.
  • Interpret multidisciplinary construction drawings and specifications to proactively identify and resolve commissioning-related issues.
  • Verify systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with owner requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate equipment and system start-up activities, including sequencing and schedule management.
  • Administer commissioning software platforms such as CxAlloy, tracking issues, testing progress, deficiencies, and closeout documentation.
  • Monitor commissioning-related RFIs, submittals, action items, and punch-list activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify readiness for commissioning activities and confirm completion of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, vendors, and operations teams to ensure testing readiness and successful execution.
  • Lead and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  • Track and report commissioning KPIs to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Represent commissioning activities during Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation supports successful project turnover and operational readiness.
  • Support SOP development, compliance reviews, safety planning, and commissioning audits.
  • Provide technical support and coordinate design clarifications as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent trade/superintendent experience.
  • 7–10+ years of construction, commissioning, or mission-critical infrastructure experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on data center projects.
  • Demonstrated success commissioning mission-critical facilities such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, laboratories, healthcare facilities, or similar environments.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls integration, and commissioning processes.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including ASHRAE, NEBB, NFPA, ASME, SMACNA, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience with commissioning software and project management platforms such as CxAlloy, Procore, and other tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
