Position SummarySenior Principal Systems Engineer – Infrastructure (Strategic Defense Solutions). The engineer will lead infrastructure IPT efforts for Strategic Nuclear Deterrence programs, driving complex systems engineering across the full program lifecycle, collaborating with multiple disciplines, mentoring teams, and partnering directly with customers and leadership.

What You’ll Do- Lead systems engineering activities across the full development lifecycle for complex aerospace and defense systems.
- Develop system architectures, CONOPS, interface definitions, and MBSE artifacts using SysML.
- Provide technical leadership for integration, verification, validation, troubleshooting, and accreditation.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration across software, hardware, cybersecurity, integration, and test teams.
- Lead Agile systems engineering activities, breaking down epics and features into executable user stories.
- Manage technical execution, program risks, schedules, cost, and performance objectives.
- Serve as a technical mentor and coach to engineering teams.
- Interface directly with customers, senior leadership, suppliers, and stakeholders in both collaborative and classified environments.
- Support proposal development, technical estimation, and business growth initiatives.
- Advanced leadership practices for large‑scale aerospace and defense programs.
- Application of cutting‑edge MBSE methodologies and digital engineering strategies.
- Emerging technologies in secure communications, cloud‑enabled architectures, and mission‑critical platforms.
- Best practices through Collins Aerospace’s Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) Operating System.
- Opportunities to influence technical strategy across strategic defense programs.
- Technical leadership experience leading engineering teams and cross‑functional efforts.
- Experience capturing customer requirements, developing operational concepts, and deriving system and subsystem requirements.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Experience in technical decision‑making, risk management, and system‑level trade studies.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) + 10 years relevant experience or an advanced degree + 7 years experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience designing and integrating complex network architectures using VMware and/or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle).
- Expertise with MBSE tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience with FPGA design development.
- Agile development leadership (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, or similar).
- Advanced SysML modeling (activity, sequence, state, parametric, block definition diagrams).
- Experience with Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), earned value management systems (EVMS), and program execution.
- Familiarity with proposal development and estimation tools (e.g., SEER products).
- Digital transformation initiatives, Dev Sec Ops , and modern systems engineering practices.
- Configuration management, change management, and peer review processes.
- Root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement initiatives.
