Principal Systems Engineer – Onsite – Cedar Rapids, IA, USA

DepartmentComputing Solutions Department – focuses on safety‑critical avionics solutions.
Role OverviewDevelop next‑generation product line solutions for avionics, including specification, design, verification, and sustainment of highly integrated computing and graphics systems with program visibility across Avionics business units.
Responsibilities- Capture requirements, design, test cases, and test procedures in accordance with program development plans and ARP‑4754B.
- Integrate, validate, and verify system functionality in the laboratory.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, AEH, and software design functions.
- Assist in resolving technical problems that span hardware and software functional domains.
- Travel 5–10% as needed.
- Degree in STEM field and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Experience with safety‑critical system, hardware, or software development (DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARP‑4754A/B).
- Experience authoring and validating requirements.
- Experience with avionics equipment certification process.
- Experience working with stakeholders to generate concepts of operations and use cases.
- Experience authoring in‑depth technical documents.
- Experience testing embedded hardware and software.
- Experience developing automated tests using scripting.
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external customers.
- Adaptability, determination, collaborative mindset, and self‑motivation.
