Principal Systems Engineer – Boeing Displays Certification Focal; Onsite

Position:
Principal Systems Engineer – Boeing Platforms Department.

Location:

Cedar Rapids, IA. This role focuses on ARP-4754 Systems Certification for flight display systems in large commercial airplanes such as the Boeing 787.

• Be the primary interface with external customers and Certification Compliance Finders in support of systems certification activities, such as certification documents and audit certification support.
• Coordinate certification activities, including project management for bidding, estimating, tracking and reporting on technical scope, cost and schedule.
• Proactively identify and manage risk associated with the certification aspects of displays programs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the project team for questions about processes, plans, standards, and policies.
• Perform technical coordination with various teams, including customers (internal and external), systems engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, partner suppliers, safety engineers, and program managers.
• Understand dependencies between domains and related impacts.
• Apply good judgement by quickly assessing the cost, benefit and risks of decisions and apply critical thinking to make well-informed decisions.
• Mentor team members and create training materials and knowledge transfer opportunities.
• Assist with other systems engineering activities when certification work is reduced, such as requirements capture, system design and modeling, integration, validation, and verification.
• Travel up to 25% as needed.

• Advanced degree in STEM with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience working with E-UMs/TCRs for DA audits related to ARP-4754.
• 5+ years of experience with ARP-4754 and/or DO-178 commercial certification process.

• Familiarity with ARP-4754 and ARP-4761 certification objectives for Air Transport category airplanes.
• Experience with the Seattle ACO and E-UMs from major OEMs.
• Experience developing avionics systems using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with ARINC standards such as ARINC 429, ARINC 664 and ARINC 661.
