The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) organization at Collins Aerospace is seeking a talented and driven Systems Engineer to support the Nuclear Effects Survivability Team’s efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage across the full product development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, requirements definition, system design, software and hardware development and integration, systems test and verification/validation, and deployment.

In this position, every day will bring new challenges, and your contributions will directly impact the performance and resilience of mission‑critical defense systems. You will play a key role in ensuring system-level functionality and robustness.

The ideal candidate brings prior Systems and Nuclear Survivability experience and will contribute immediately by collaborating across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.

You’ll be entrusted with meaningful responsibility from day one, directly shaping product robustness and advancing a premier engineering capability. What You Will Do:
  • Core Systems Engineering:
    Develop concepts of operations, requirements, and define system interfaces.
  • Coordinate Testing Efforts:
    Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation.
  • Integrate Systems:
    Integrate hardware and software mitigations for nuclear environments into tactical systems, evaluating their functionality and impact.
  • Document and Communicate:
    Develop integration documentation, execute plans, analyze data, verify requirements and effectively communicate results to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Perform Data Analysis:
    Conduct statistical and numerical analysis of radiation performance data to ensure optimal system performance and verify requirements.
  • Present Findings:
    Present technical findings and viable solutions to leadership and customers.
  • Support Missions:
    Travel as needed (up to 20%) to support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Ability to obtain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance (Selected Candidate will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements)
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience in developing and managing requirements of varying levels (system, sub-system, line replaceable units (LRUs)).
