Job Description Summary
Transamerica Life seeks a self-driven actuary, with a proven record of, or interest in, performing cross-functionally in a highly visible role groomed towards leadership development. The Special Projects team works seamlessly across all Life products (UL, IUL, VUL & Traditional Life), in a variety of endeavors (assumption setting, financial analysis, risk and profit assessment), and is usually the frontline at which key strategic company initiatives are developed and tested.
Accordingly, the successful candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, leading analytical efforts across multiple projects and delivering insights that shape key business decisions. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate findings to both actuarial and non-technical senior management, work collaboratively, and, when necessary, propose appropriate courses of action.
- Drive (IFRS/GAAP/Stat) assumption setting across life blocks, including model development, testing, analysis, and communication of results to leadership.
- Actuariallyassess non-routine, financialtransactionsincluding, but not limited to:
- UL COI Rate Increasesand its subsequent impact on policyholder behavior
- IUL/VUL Reserving & Hedgingimpacts on economic volatility and profit emergence
- Reinsurance - including3rd Party(YRT, Coinsurance, Sidecar)& Captives
- Traditional Life Pre- & Post-Level-Term Policyholder Behavior
- Supportkeycompany initiatives including implementation of GAAP, process improvements& automation, andutilizationof AI tools.
- Ability to work autonomously under defined timelines.
- Capable of prioritizing varied unrelated tasks.
- Proficient modeler (AXISproficiencypreferred).
- Effective communicator (oral & written) – (Sspecific prior examples may be requested).
- Demonstrated history of analyzing and analytically interpretating large data sets – (Specific prior examples may be requested).
- Exemplify highest professional integrity and standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or relatedfieldand 5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's,willaccept Master's in a listed discipline and 4 years of relevant experience.
- FSA or equivalent professional designation. In lieuof
FSAwill accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 8 years of relevant experience. - Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment,organization and prioritization skills.
- Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences.
- Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectivelyaccomplishindividual and team objectives.
- Advanced computer skills.
- GGY AXIS and Power BI experience.
- SQL, VBA, Python, and/or Alteryx programming.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Hybrid office environment
- Occasional Travel
