Job Summary
Manages one or more actuarial functions for a product line or corporate process, evaluates new product ideas, and oversees pricing and maintenance of existing products. May direct the design, pricing, and implementation of insurance products.
Responsibilities- Lead preparation and interpretation of actuarial information for presentation to management.
- Monitor profitability by line of business and product, develop supporting reports and analyses.
- Maintain product line or corporate process to comply with state and federal regulations.
- Manage studies that support actuarial assumptions and provide assumptions and data to others.
- Support creation of system specifications, contracts, commission structures, and other actuarial aspects of product development.
- Monitor and analyze developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace; recommend appropriate responses.
- Provide guidance and advice regarding pricing rates, modeling methodology, or reserving and related matters.
- Serve as a key resource for completion of major recurring projects during the year.
- Represent the company on industry and professional committees and/or with regulators.
- May supervise a team of employees.
- FSA or equivalent professional designation plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field and seven years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a listed discipline and five years of experience, or ASA with ten years of experience.
- Demonstrated high-quality leadership, judgment, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication of advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet time constraints to achieve individual and team objectives.
