Senior Desktop Technology Strategist

Job Description Summary

This position will be part of the ET Digital Workplace Services function, responsible for managing strategic technical and operational partnerships with 3rd party organizations who will supply various operational functions to AEGON. The role of Sr IT Desktop Strategist will work to identify opportunities to improve service performance.

• Maintain Enterprise Technology’s Desktop Technology Strategy, ensuring that strategic goals are planned, advanced, and achieved, and that they deliver business value.
• Provide direction for the vendor desktop strategy to ensure cohesive and synchronized technologies.
• Provide hands‑on technology expertise to current desktop systems.
• Strengthen alignment by participating in strategic and operational planning activities involving GTS service owners and top technical staff.
• Provide consulting on operational processes to maintain strategic alignment and minimize customer impact.
• Consult for the architecture team in reviewing strategic technologies and solution design.
• Constantly challenge the status‑quo and bring in more value through in‑house and external technology solutions.
• Conduct research for IT projects that are strategic in nature.
• Assess various technologies, products, and services related to performance‑based information management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years of demonstrated related experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills enabling effective articulation of strategy.
• Broad knowledge across major technology disciplines including web, database, data center, network, and workforce computing technologies.
• Deep understanding of modern endpoint management ecosystems such as SCCM, Intune, and automated application delivery frameworks, with the ability to drive modernization and standardization across a global environment.
• Proven understanding of cloud technologies.
• Experience modernizing legacy code and automations with SQL databases, Visual Studio, and Git Hub (branching, pull requests, CI), refactoring into maintainable, testable components.
• Experience with cloud‑based virtual desktops including Azure Virtual Desktop, AWS Work Spaces, Citrix, and Nerdio, covering deployment, scaling, image management, security, and cost optimization.
• Experience with Service Now and enterprise ITSM processes, including automated PC provisioning/build pipelines, hardware and software asset management, full asset lifecycle workflows, and cost/billing reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of technology architecture principles.
• Ability to convert complex information into simple, explainable solutions.
• Understanding of current and future business needs met by infrastructure platforms.
• Strong planning orientation with integrative and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and coach others in new technologies and strategies.
• Ability to drive and achieve consensus/support from large diverse groups.
