Job Overview
Great America Financial Services is an entrepreneurial company providing equipment financing. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineering Leader to define and lead end‑to‑end quality strategy across manual and automated testing practices. This role ensures quality is built into all phases of the software development lifecycle, partnering with Business Subject Matter Experts, Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams.
Responsibilities- Quality Strategy & Governance: define and lead QA strategy, balancing manual and automated testing, establish standards, methodologies, and quality gates across SDLC; ensure consistent testing practices, documentation standards, quality metrics.
- Manual & Automated Testing Leadership: oversee full testing lifecycle, including test planning, execution, defect management, reporting; establish and scale automated testing, integrate into CI/CD pipelines, use manual testing for exploratory, usability, edge cases; improve test coverage, efficiency, defect prevention; define frameworks for functional, regression, integration, user acceptance testing; define test environment and data seeding strategy.
- Engineering Integration & Delivery: partner with engineering teams to embed QA practices, influence design for testability, performance, reliability; ensure shift‑left approach; support continuous delivery.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement: analyze defect trends, test effectiveness, release outcomes; lead root cause analysis, implement corrective actions; establish KPIs (defect leakage, automation coverage, release quality); provide go/no‑go recommendations.
- Leadership & Team Development: build, lead, develop high‑performing QA organization; define roles, career paths, development plans; coach teams on modern QA, Agile testing, quality engineering; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
- Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
partner with Product, Delivery, Architecture, Engineering to align quality with business goals; support UAT; communicate risks, insights, recommendations to leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including manual and automated testing.
- 3+ years of leadership experience (direct or matrix).
- Experience implementing or scaling QA automation frameworks and tooling.
- Experience working in Agile development environments with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience in test lifecycle management, defect tracking, CI/CD integration.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies and quality engineering principles.
- Analytical skills, trend analysis, root cause identification.
- Excellent communication skills, translating technical metrics into business insights.
- Ability to balance speed, quality, and risk in release decision‑making.
- Proven ability to lead teams through change and maturity progression (manual > automation > quality engineering).
