Senior Systems Security (Cybersecurity) Engineer – Onsite, Cedar Rapids, IA

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts and security control validation activities required for Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Review proposed system changes, evaluate cybersecurity impact, and ensure modifications do not compromise system security or accreditation.
• Perform vulnerability assessments, analyze findings, develop mitigation strategies, and document remediation plans.
• Implement and validate security improvements by assessing system configurations, identifying vulnerabilities, and applying security best practices.
• Develop cybersecurity requirements and system security architecture documentation, including boundary diagrams, data flow diagrams, and hardware/software inventories.
• Execute Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation and compliance validation using tools such as Evaluate STIG, STIG Viewer, and SCAP Compliance Checker.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning with Tenable Security Center (Tenable.sc) and Nessus; analyze results and coordinate remediation.
• Provide hands‑on Linux systems administration and support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other distributions.
• Troubleshoot Linux operating system issues (networking, system services, authentication, SELinux, storage, etc.) and conduct security troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, ISSOs, and Program Managers to integrate cybersecurity requirements into system designs.
• Develop technical mitigation statements, risk acceptance packages, and executive‑level documentation supporting RMF assessments.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and cybersecurity artifacts throughout the program lifecycle.

Gain advanced expertise in systems security engineering, emerging protection technologies, and leadership within VLF cybersecurity programs.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance (capable of upgrading to Top Secret).
• U.S. citizenship.
• Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Experience in systems engineering requirements and specifications.
• Experience with DoD and Federal IA certification and accreditation processes.
• Proficiency using tenable scanning tools (Tenable Security Center, STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker).
• Strong Linux command‑line skills.

• Active, transferable DoD Top Secret clearance.
• DoDI 8570.01‑M IAT Level‑II compliance (e.g., Security+, CISSP).
• Experience with Program Protection Plans (DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39).
• Track record of implementing highly technical security solutions and communicating their importance to program managers and stakeholders.
