About the Role
Principal Systems Security Engineer – Cybersecurity
Location:
Cedar Rapids, IA (on‑site)
In this role you will serve as a key contributor to the Strategic Solutions Security Engineering team, working on technically challenging assignments that protect the nation and our products. You will leverage your expertise to develop security architecture, perform cybersecurity audits, and support system integration, validation and verification, cost and risk analyses, and bid/proposal efforts.
What You Will Do- Implement security improvements by assessing current situations, evaluating trends, developing security architecture and requirements, and creating design artifacts, plans, and policies.
- Perform cybersecurity analysis on collected data and test results.
- Conduct cybersecurity audits to ensure compliance of system security posture.
- Plan, integrate, and validate systems, analyze cost, risk, supportability, and effectiveness for total solutions.
- Contribute to bid and proposal efforts.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
- Degree in STEM or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance required; must have eligibility for Top‑Secret clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required for clearance.
- Experience with security features, vulnerability analysis of operating systems and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with DoD and Federal IA certification and accreditation processes, IA controls, NIST 800‑53 RMF, and NIST SP 800‑37.
- Experience with hardware and software integration, validation/verification testing, and qualification testing.
- Preferred:
DoD Top‑Secret clearance, DoDI 8570.01-M certification (Security+, CISSP), NSA Type1 certification, PPP, DoDI 5200.39, experience on DoD contracts. - Experience presenting technical data to program management and leadership.
- Knowledge of cryptographic hardware architecture/design, network encryption, and testing methodologies.
- Experience with tools such as DOORS or CAMEO, programming in Rust and Python.
