Collins Aerospace is seeking a Cyber Defense Analyst to monitor and analyze security alerts, events, and logs to identify potential cybersecurity incidents and vulnerabilities. The analyst will support the implementation of cybersecurity controls, ensure compliance with RMF, DAAPM, JSIG, NISPOM, and other regulatory frameworks, and assist in the secure handling, transfer, and distribution of classified or sensitive data.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze security alerts, events, and logs to identify potential incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Support the implementation of cybersecurity controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in the secure handling, transfer, and distribution of classified or sensitive data.
  • Escalate potential incidents or policy violations to senior analysts or supervisors with clear documentation and initial analysis.
  • Participate in continuous monitoring activities, including vulnerability scans, log reviews, and automated reporting tools.
  • Support audit, compliance, and assessment activities as directed by senior staff.
  • Maintain operational awareness of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and trends to support proactive defense measures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate, timely, and complete reporting of cybersecurity activities.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures, checklists, and guidance to maintain compliance and operational consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cyber Defense or Security Operations leadership team.
Qualifications – Required
  • University degree (or equivalent) and less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Entry‑level cybersecurity experience or internships, including basic network, system, or data security tasks.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX), networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs), and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Ability to work onsite in a team‑oriented environment.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Familiarity with DoD RMF, NISPOM, and basic regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Prior experience in cybersecurity operations centers (SOCs), incident monitoring, or helpdesk/IT security support roles.
  • Experience as a Data Transfer Agent in a classified or controlled environment.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, ACAS) and security monitoring solutions (SIEMs).
  • CompTIA Security+, Network+, or other entry‑level cyber certifications.
  • Familiarity with security incident handling, reporting, and escalation procedures.
