Platform Engineering Intern

Position Summary

The Platform Engineering Intern gains hands‑on experience with the platforms and Dev Ops toolchain (Service Now, Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub) that support Great America's technology operations, working alongside experienced engineers on maintenance, monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate has an interest in cloud technologies, infrastructure, and automation, and in the reliable operation of enterprise technology platforms. Great America's internship program is designed to build foundational technical and business knowledge while building bench strength for our platform engineering roles.

• Collaborate with platform engineers to support the configuration, maintenance, and improvement of Great America's core enterprise platforms.
• Assist with automation and CI/CD pipeline exposure (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub) and help troubleshoot and resolve platform issues.
• Write SQL queries and assist in optimizing database interactions in support of platform data and reporting needs.
• Document technical processes, configuration standards, and contribute to the team's knowledge base.

• Cloud computing, networking, and systems administration fundamentals
• Database concepts and SQL RESTful APIs, JSON, and HTTP protocols
• Dev Ops, automation, and cybersecurity fundamentals

SQL and SQL Server Management Studio, exposure to a major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP, familiarity with a scripting or programming language (Power Shell, Python, Bash or similar), strong communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills; comfortable asking questions and learning new tools, basic familiarity with Git and source control workflows, exposure to CI/CD tools such as Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub Actions, and Microsoft Windows/Office ecosystem.

Pursuing Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other relevant technical degree
