True North is seeking an Account Specialist to join our Transportation team on-site in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. The primary responsibility of the Account Specialist is to provide consistent, timely, and accurate service to support transportation clients, carriers, and account management teams. This is an entry point into True North’s Transportation team, built around accuracy, responsiveness, and follow-through on the day-to-day work that keeps transportation clients properly covered and well served. As you gain experience and perform in this role, the natural next step is Account Specialist II — taking on more responsibility and more complex tasks with greater ownership — followed by Senior Account Specialist, where you’ll help oversee a small Account Manager book of business.

What you’ll do
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service to clients, providing timely and accurate service daily via email, phone and other agency channels.
- Use a pooled approach to customer service, working across the Transportation team’s shared activities and tasks to meet client and service team member needs.
- Create and send proof of insurance for clients, lienholders, and other interested parties.
- Prepare or assist in policy delivery.
- Follow up with clients on incomplete applications and change forms.
- Assist with the client renewal process, including preparing renewal documentation and updating the agency management system.
- Review incoming carrier and client documentation for accuracy and process it within agency standards.
- Maintain and update client management systems as necessary.
- Prioritize work activities to ensure all tasks and projects are completed on time and with appropriate content and organization.
- Assist in building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, both internal and external.
- Grow your industry and job knowledge as measured by attendance at continuing education, attaining or updating designations, and participation in other agency training offerings.
- Expand your knowledge by assuming new responsibilities in the department or working on department projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
- Perform other duties as assigned, with regular and reliable attendance.
Credentials
- High School diploma or GED required; two- or four-year degree preferred
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred
- One year of customer service experience preferred
