In House Counsel

Description We are seeking an experienced In House Counsel to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position is responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and oversight for real estate investment transactions, fund structuring, and regulatory compliance. You will play a vital role in shaping legal processes that support our investment strategies and objectives.

Responsibilities:

- Negotiate and draft complex contracts and fund documents to facilitate investment activities.

- Act as a subject matter expert in real estate, corporate organization, and securities law.

- Offer strategic advice on regulatory, tax, and compliance matters related to investments.

- Collaborate with senior management to develop legal strategies for acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management.

- Guide less experienced legal team members and ensure the accuracy and quality of legal work.

- Oversee legal risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

- Manage legal aspects of equity investments and commercial real estate transactions.

- Develop and maintain legal policies and procedures to support organizational goals.

- Research and stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting the business.

- Facilitate communication between internal departments and external legal entities to ensure alignment. Requirements

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active attorney license.

- Extensive experience in commercial real estate or fund-related legal work.

- Proven ability to handle transactional and regulatory matters with a strategic focus.

- Expertise in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

- Strong knowledge of corporate law and compliance.

- Demonstrated ability to manage legal risks and provide practical solutions.

- Experience in acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management.

- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to mentor and collaborate effectively.
