This position reports to the County Attorney's Office. Conducts investigations of a criminal and civil nature at the request of Linn County Attorney staff. Responsibilities include locating and interviewing victims and witnesses, gathering restitution information, serving subpoenas and other legal documents, and assisting attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom logistics.
- Locate and interview victims and witnesses in criminal, civil, and juvenile cases.
- Serve subpoenas and other legal documents for hearings, trials, and depositions.
- Gather and document restitution information from victims of crime.
- Assist attorney staff with trial preparation, including collecting evidence and confirming witness availability.
- Ensure witness attendance and logistical readiness for court appearances.
- Conduct interviews and provide written summaries or reports to attorney staff.
- Provide courtroom and logistical support to attorneys during trial proceedings.
- Research defense evidence and assist in gathering documents or records, including medical records, as needed.
- Provide transportation for witnesses when required.
- Associate's degree in a related field required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of advanced investigative experience in the criminal field required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills for this position may be considered.
