Custodian/Maintenance Worker
Organization:
Summit Schools, a nonprofit, independent elementary-middle school. This role provides housekeeping and maintenance to indoor and outdoor facilities to maintain a safe, attractive, efficient, and clean environment for students and staff.
The custodian/maintenance worker is responsible for housekeeping and maintenance tasks as described below. The position may be required to assist in other areas as requested.

Full-time - Salary: $35,680

Immediately - Hours:
Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
- Proven working experience as a custodian/maintenance worker
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Integrity and ability to work independently
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Self-starter and motivated
- Reading comprehension, verbal comprehension, coordination, and equipment selection
- Ability to read instructions for cleaning surfaces and fixtures; follow verbal cleaning instructions
- Punctuality, attention to detail, time management, problem solving, professional and personal responsibility
- Ability to keep the building clean and orderly
- Replenish stock in bathrooms
- Empty trash, sanitize receptacles, and manage waste
- Dust mopping tiled floors; sweep debris
- Spot mop and deep clean floors as needed; use auto-scrubbers and floor restorer
- Operate auto-scrubber quarterly on tile floors
- Burnish floors when necessary
- Vacuum carpets and entry mats daily
- Clean, polish, and sanitize restrooms and fixtures daily
- Clean and sanitize restroom floors and water fountains daily
- Dust window ledges and surfaces weekly; spot-clean windows and door glass daily
- Change light bulbs and maintain lenses
- Assist with summer cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Set up and tear down for building functions
- Operate grounds maintenance tools and equipment (drill, sander, mower, etc.)
- Deep clean and paint during school breaks; clear sidewalks of snow and debris as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Regularly required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull, carry, reach with arms, and communicate. Must be able to lift up to 56 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently, climb an 8-foot ladder, and work on uneven surfaces. Doctor’s physical may be required.
