Senior Project Manager - Data Center Construction

The Weitz Company is hiring a Senior Project Manager to support our Iowa Business Unit on a data center project in Cedar Rapids, IA.

• Lead and oversee complex construction projects from start to finish, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
• Provide leadership and management direction to project teams, fostering a collaborative environment and managing team performance.
• Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor risk factors.
• Lead client and stakeholder communication, manage expectations, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with and manage partnerships with architects, engineers, and other key project stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules; manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Prepare and manage project schedules, identify and address long‑lead items, and initiate changes to ensure adherence.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Complete monthly project status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments.
• Manage project budget and expenses, ensuring projects are completed within allocated funds; prepare financial reports and monthly forecasts.
• Implement quality control and quality assurance programs and measures to ensure projects meet and exceed required standards.
• Recommend value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure project safety plans are completed and communicated to team and subcontractors.
• Assist with pre‑construction efforts and manage buy‑out process.
• Detect constructability issues with project design.
• Understand contract terms, budgets, insurances, bonds, and change orders; ensure adherence, including scope progress.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external parties.
• Develop and mentor team members, delegating tasks/responsibilities, setting goals, and recommending promotions when appropriate.

• 10+ years of construction experience as a Project Manager or in a similar role.
• Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC) is required.
• Experience leading, developing, and mentoring a team.
• Industry‑related college degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in senior living, student housing, hospitality, condominium, and/or other lived‑in product construction is desired.

• Experience with JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, and P6 is a plus.
• Proficiency in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
