The Consulting Program Director is accountable to executive sponsors for schedule, budget, and quality of on-going programs which may have many related projects managed within. The incumbent will apply broad, advanced project management principles and concepts to large projects, and contribute to innovation of new concepts and ideas, and continuous process improvement. This role creates alignment across initiatives and stakeholders. Program duties may not always fall within a defined subproject.
The individual must be able to identify activities as either in or out of scope as they relate to the program objectives.
- Own a portfolio/initiative aligned to strategic priorities. Manage multiple work streams and stakeholder relationship to assure business needs are met, interdependencies are identified and addressed, outcomes are delivered timely and within stakeholder focus, and potential projects are managed.
- Define and manage business case, program and project scope, goals, budget, schedule, resources, and deliverables that support business goals, and take appropriate steps to ensure program objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage program and project risks / issues. Creates recommendations and directions to overcome risks/issues. Recognize and determine the appropriate corrective action to ensure projects are delivered timely and within budget and scope. Identification of systemic issues within the program or projects and solve for solutions.
- Identify and execute appropriate communication methods to meet stakeholder and senior leadership needs on the accurate status of the program and initiatives.
- Create, maintain and publish project documentation to identify, evaluate, scope, plan, monitor, and follow up on active programs.
- Mentor project team to drive toward efficiency and excellence
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- General knowledge of business and business systems
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience with MS Project or related tool
- Applies technical/procedural requirements of the position based on knowledge and experience within specialization
- Ability to attract, lead, motivate, and retain multiple teams
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage at a macro level and identify when a refined approach is necessary
- Strong attention to detail
- PMP Certification (Desired)
- 5-8 years relevant experience
- One or more years' experience with Program Management
- Experience managing complex strategic initiatives
- Ability to supervise, direct, and review the results of programs, projects or assignments
- Ability to lead by understanding team dynamics
- Ability to support, affect, and implement change
- Ability to impact and influence a diverse population
- Facilitate program discussions with executive leadership and business stakeholders
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Previous project or team management experience
