What You’ll Do

  • Plan, schedule, and assign work to technicians, and track productivity across the shift
  • Lead shift and shop meetings, and review and approve Repair Orders (ROs)
  • Ensure all warranty policies and procedures are properly executed
  • Triage unscheduled customer drive-ins and communicate work assignments to technicians
  • Conduct yard checks to keep work properly scheduled and prioritized

Team Leadership

  • Manage, train, and develop all personnel assigned to your shift

  • Evaluate and recommend shop tooling and equipment needs
  • Support vehicle specification management and the vehicle in-service/out-service process
  • Own parts inventory management, policies, and procedures

Quality & Safety Management

  • Perform quality inspections of PM work and repairs, and conduct in-process reviews of non-PM work
  • Lead breakdown root cause analysis and implement corrective actions locally, escalating to the Technical Assistance Center when needed
  • Partner with the Service Manager to ensure technicians are properly trained and qualified
  • Maintain visibility over shop floor activity to ensure accurate root cause diagnosis and strong parts yield
  • Support Quality Assurance audits, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement programs
  • Maintain documentation required to meet local, state, federal, and customer requirements
  • Ensure the team stays compliant with safety and EPA regulations

Financial Management

  • Help the shop meet Net Maintenance Cost per Unit targets without sacrificing quality, safety, or customer satisfaction
  • Support cost control against the maintenance operations budget and location P&L
  • Help drive Maintenance Initiatives to hit or exceed financial targets
  • Handle payroll, purchase order approval, invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation
  • Manage the customer bill-back process, including identifying, reviewing, and approving opportunities
