Position SummaryThe Shipping Coordinator is responsible for the overall performance and continuity of the warehouse office to include order management, order creation and return documentation and is also responsible for clerical/administrative support for customer accounts, and acting as a liaison between customers and associates as instructed.
What To ExpectTo be successful in this position the individual must possess solid math skills, along with accuracy and organization with paperwork and attention to detail. The essential duties and responsibilities are as follows. Additional duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate rush shipments
- Coordinate with production lines on rush shipment products and their completion
- Prepare rush items for shipment
- Complete bills of lading and packing lists
- Determine what carrier to use based on delivery requirements
- Coordinate with carrier for pick & delivery
- Document the shipment information
- Use, understand, and thoroughly read a tape measure
- Operate office equipment and computer effectively
- Accurately complete paperwork with neatness and timeliness
- Read and understand English, and identify items on paperwork including customer orders, bills of lading, manifests, packing lists, stock receipts, freight bills, and customer labels
- Communicate verbally, in writing, and telephone etiquette with supervisors, associates, truck drivers, customers, and forklift operators
- Perform all other duties assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or assembly-line environment preferred
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and work effectively across cross‑functional teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard business tools; ERP experience is a plus
- Comfortable balancing time between desk‑based coordination and being active on the production floor (approximately 70/30 split)
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and regularly move around the production floor
- Good hand‑eye coordination and gripping strength; able to safely lift and maneuver materials when needed
- Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills, particularly in identifying and resolving delays or material issues
- Must be able to work a standard 40‑hour workweek, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English
- Willingness to be flexible, learn new skills, and cross‑train in other areas of the plant as needed
The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
