Utility Laborer

Job Title: 1st Shift Loader

Location: Tipton, Iowa

Pay: $20–$22/hr

Department: Shipping & Receiving

Reports To: Shipping Supervisor

The 1st Shift Loader is responsible for safely operating industrial forklifts to load trailers and flatbeds with finished fabricated materials. This role supports shipping, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate, on‑time shipments.

• Operate industrial forklifts to load and unload fabricated steel and welded assemblies.
• Follow shipping paperwork, load sheets, and material tags for accuracy.
• Secure loads using chains, straps, and blocking materials.
• Inspect materials before loading and report any issues.
• Stage materials and maintain organized shipping lanes.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and follow all safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.

• 1+ year forklift experience (heavy/industrial preferred).
• Ability to handle large and irregular loads safely.
• Understanding of load securement.
• Ability to read shipping and production paperwork.
• Preferred: fabrication/weld shop experience; forklift certification

• Lift up to 50 lbs; stand, sit, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Work in a weld/fabrication environment with varying temperatures and noise.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cedar Rapids, IA.
