Purpose: The Lab Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for the production departments.
Primary Duties:
- Complete mechanical and dimensional testing of metal samples following work instructions and ASTM specifications (tensile Strength, rockwell hardness, grain size, coating thickness, etc.).
- Utilize router, shear, and other small power tools to shape samples to required dimensions.
- Prepare and analyze solid metal samples for chemical composition.
- Enter data accurately and completely to record test results and communicate those results to required parties. Maintain associated databases as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration to keep test equipment in good working order.
- Maintain retention sample inventory for required intervals.
- Support Quality and R&D departments with special testing protocols.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Science‑related field, and/or 3 years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Manufacturing or metals experience preferred.
- General understanding of PCs and related software experience.
- Sound communication, organizational and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
- Proper use of testing equipment.
- Familiarity with ASTM methods.
Schedule:
We are currently hiring for a night time 12‑hour, rotating shift position working 3 days one week, and 4 days the following week.
$23.00/hour
