The Material Handler I position performs general labor tasks in association with movement of material. Picks and stages parts/equipment in order to support production/shipping schedules, verifies inventory counts and locations. The Material Handler I position proficiently supports one (1) of the following work areas including Inventory Control, Parts/Equipment Shipping, or Receiving.

RESULTS

Critical 55%
  • Works off an order pick list/pack list and pulls/reports parts/equipment accurately, reports operations in JDE correctly, and stages material for other shifts, as needed with little to no supervision.
  • Maintains accurate part identification, stocking locations, and inventory counts for all parts in designated pick/pull locations.
  • Understands & follows production schedule or shipping schedule to timely receive parts, pack parts, or pull parts for work orders prior to need; and follow work centers' productivity to avoid production downtime.
  • Checks identification of materials to be moved, cross-references with production schedule or shipping schedule and safely moves to required location. Reports inconsistencies or problems to supervisor.

  • Lifts and moves materials safely to designated area while following shop floor order instructions regarding all processes.
  • Completes cycle counts as needed and immediately reports any discrepancies.
  • Reports non-conforming material and troubleshoots and reconciles all inventory issues, for both purchased and manufactured parts/equipment.
  • Determines space requirements for appropriate storage locations and/or outgoing shipment consolidation.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area, performs required PM's on machines and equipment and reports all non- conformities to Line Lead, Supervisor or Maintenance until the problem has been rectified.
  • Effectively communicates with co-workers and internal customers. Display attributes of a team player and positive role model.

Requirements

Qualifications and Essential Skills:
  • One + years of related material handling or inventory control experience required.
  • Previous forklift, truck/trailer experience, required.
  • Forklift license, preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measure up to 1/32", and ability to interpret dial caliper measurements and hand tools as needed.
  • Intermediate computer skills are required; must be able to use computer systems to look-up information, clock-in/clock-out, and report work activities. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required, and Microsoft Outlook is preferred.
  • Good math skills are required; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • ERP experience is preferred.
