The Computing Solutions Department is looking for a Systems Engineer II to develop next‑generation product line solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA. The team focuses on creating, certifying, and sustaining solutions for a wide variety of safety‑critical avionics products.
What You Will Do- Develop requirements for a highly integrated DAL A computing system in accordance with industry guidance (ARP
4754B) and program plans. - Create comprehensive plans, requirements, architecture definition, meticulous verification and validation, and develop detailed design documentation for next‑generation avionic electronic systems.
- Drive product‑architecture discussions, focusing on designing systems that are not only effective but also certifiable, in close collaboration with Hardware, Software, Safety, and Security teams.
- Occasional travel (approximately 10%) as needed.
- Experience with safety‑critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP
4754A/B). - Experience authoring and validating requirements.
- Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience with the avionics equipment certification process.
- Experience working with stakeholders to generate concepts of operations and use cases.
- Experience authoring in‑depth technical documents.
- Experience working with and testing embedded hardware and software.
- Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal and external customers.
- Adaptable to change, self‑motivated, and eager to learn new technologies; collaborative and committed to program schedules.

Salary range for this role is $68,900 USD – $131,100 USD, a good‑faith estimate representing all experience levels.
