Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Systems Integration Lead (Onsite)

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA, USA

Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government DoD Secret Clearance required Day1; eligibility for Top Secret also required. U.S. citizenship is required.

The role focuses on designing, planning, and implementing multiple Systems Integration Labs for Proprietary Platforms and Mission Systems within Collins Aerospace’s Next‑Generation Platforms. The lead collaborates across business units, product organizations, and executive leadership to define lab roadmaps, drive technical execution, and communicate progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and implement Systems Integration Labs for Proprietary Platforms and Mission Systems.
  • Collaborate with business units and product organizations to understand program and product operational requirements.
  • Develop strategic integrational lab roadmaps and drive technical execution.
  • Communicate status and results across PMT and executive leadership.
  • Coordinate with development teams to resolve discrepancies and issues, and manage test execution and documentation.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve problems throughout the system lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 7years experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret Clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience in mission systems startup procedures (cybersecurity, network configuration, key distribution, secure boot, latency).
  • Hands‑on systems and software integration experience, including design, development, and testing of customer hardware and software.
  • Experience interacting with development teams to resolve discrepancies, and with customers, end‑users, hardware & software design teams.
  • Proficient in systems integration, test execution, and test results documentation.
  • Strong debugging, problem‑solving skills, and experience with high‑complexity systems of systems.
  • Experience in initial lab design, capability definition, and formalizing integration plans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Agile Mission Suite Government Reference Architecture (AMS GRA).
  • Bid and proposal experience related to system integration and test.
  • Linux scripting (Python or Bash) and understanding of low‑level BSP and custom OS.
  • Automation of test scripts for integration.
  • Executive leadership communication skills.
  • Product and portfolio road mapping experience.
  • Customer interfacing, demonstrations, and prototyping experience.
