Position: Senior Systems Engineer – Business and Regional Avionics (Onsite)

Senior Systems Engineer – Avionics (Onsite, Cedar Rapids, IA, United States)

Responsibilities
  • Perform all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and software components, system validation and verification.
  • Work with external customers to document operational scenarios, develop system requirements, define system interfaces, and perform system validation testing.
  • Work with other engineers to document derived requirements, define internal system interfaces, develop system architectures, integrate system components, and perform system verification.
  • Identify and recommend process, system, and product improvements to enhance performance and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Must have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Must have: Experience with avionics or other aircraft system development and certification.
  • Prefer: Ability to quickly acquire technical domain knowledge and contribute to the design of sophisticated architectural systems.
  • Prefer: Systems Engineering experience (requirements, test, validation, & verification).
  • Prefer:

    Experience with ARP
    4754A/B, DO-178B/C, and/or DO-297 integration of complex systems.
  • Prefer: Experience with Agile and use of engineering process tools such as JIRA, JAMA, and Subversion/Git Hub.
  • Prefer: Possess a collaborative way of working, particularly in a matrixed environment and/or across various teams.
  • Prefer: Strong written & oral communication and change agent; able to interface with the spectrum of individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Prefer: Experience coaching lower-level professionals and influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Prefer: Highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks.

Location and Working Hours

This role requires the ability to work regularly on‑site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The workday typically runs from 7:30am to 4:30pm, though professional working hours may extend beyond a typical 40‑hour week on occasion.

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.

This role may be eligible for relocation.
