Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Systems Integration Lead

Located in Cedar Rapids, IA, this onsite role supports Proprietary Platforms within Collins Aerospace’s Mission Systems team. A DoD Secret security clearance (Day 1) is required, with potential for top‑secret clearance.

Shape the future of Next Generation Platforms by designing, planning, and implementing multiple Systems Integration Labs across mission systems. Oversee lab roadmaps, coordinate cross‑business product requirements, and drive technical execution with program management and executive leadership. May travel up to 10%.

• Design, plan, and implement Systems Integration Labs for Proprietary Platforms and Mission Systems.
• Work with business units and product organizations to understand program and product operational requirements.
• Develop strategic Systems Integration Lab roadmaps.
• Drive technical execution and communicate progress across the PMT and Executive Leadership.
• Travel up to 10%.

• Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7 years of experience.
• Active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Experience with mission‑systems start‑up procedures (cybersecurity, network configuration, key distribution, secure boot, latency).
• Hands‑on experience in systems and software integration, testing of customer hardware and software, and systems-of‑systems integration.
• Ability to resolve discrepancies with development teams and identify, analyze, and resolve problems throughout the system lifecycle.
• Experience with systems integration, test execution, and documentation of test results.
• Problem‑solving and debugging expertise.
• Customer‑centric experience working with end users, hardware and software design teams.
• Initial lab design and capability definition.
• Developing and formalizing integration plans and procedures from customer discussions and statements of work.
• System level design, high‑level control and data interface design.

• Knowledge of Agile Mission Suite Government Reference Architecture (AMS GRA).
• Experience with bid and proposal activities related to system integration and test.
• Linux scripting (Python or Bash).
• Understanding of low‑level BSP and custom operating systems.
• Automation of integration test scripts.
• Executive‑level communication skills.
• Product and portfolio road‑mapping experience.
• Customer interfacing, demonstrations, and prototyping.
