physicians’ clinic of iowa’s is searching for a patient focused rn to work full-time to join our hematology and oncology infusion team. The rn will provide high-quality patient care in a hematology/oncology setting, ensuring safe administration of medications, effective patient education, and accurate clinical documentation. This role also supports cross-functional nursing duties within the clinic.

primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • performing initial and ongoing patient assessments prior to and during each infusion to ensure patients are free of infection, adverse reactions, or other complications
  • monitor and record patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate.
  • collect and document accurate subjective and objective assessments in the electronic medical record, including medication lists, treatments, patient care instructions, and communications with outside entities (e.g., insurance, disability).
  • communicate medical information appropriately with patients, families, coworkers, and outside institutions.
  • verify chemotherapy orders and lab results for accuracy.
  • administer and monitor chemotherapy and other medications for hematology/oncology patients.
  • maintain knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, including side effects, infusion rates, potential reactions, and recognition of adverse responses.
  • educating patients on iv therapy and the infusion process
  • support cross-training needs by assisting triage nurses, clinic nurses, and rooming staff as needed.

qualifications:

  • current rn license is required.
  • experience providing infusion treatment, preferred.
  • bls required or must obtain within the first 60 days of employment.
  • proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in emr and related computer systems.
  • strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
  • excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
