Assistant Director of Nursing

Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing ensures all aspects in health care services.

• Transcribe physician orders, administer medications and treatments, and assess and evaluate emergency situations.
• Build constructive relationships with residents, families, and staff to create an environment that supports optimal resident function, motivates staff satisfaction and creativity, and encourages family and staff partnerships for resident care.
• Support residents and their families during move-in and adjustment phases.
• Demonstrate effective supervisory skills by recruiting, hiring, orienting, scheduling, teaching, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff.
• Maintain nursing policies and procedures, resident charts, and staff training documentation.
• Communicate with families regarding residents  conditions and needs.

• Must have current license as RN in the State of Iowa.
• Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
• Previous experience in assisted living community nursing management or long-term care setting.
• Working with people who have Alzheimer’s and/or dementia preferred.
• Minimum of three years supervisory experience in nursing with effective delegation and follow-up.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of aging.
• Well organized, PC proficient, and possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Consistent initiative, patience, good judgment, and leadership ability.
