Overview

Eligible for a $10,000 Sign-on Bonus! The RN is responsible for the delivery of safe and reliable patient care, in coordination with the healthcare team. The primary role of the RN is the execution of the nursing process in providing required care and evaluation of the care given.

Responsibilities include:

Performance of these responsibilities requires specialized knowledge, critical thinking and skills based on principles of psychological, social, physical and biological sciences that utilize the nursing process.

$5/hr Evening Differential • $7.50/hr Night/Weekend Differential

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Excellence/Patient Care:
    Assume primary responsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients, per unit standards and nursing care required for the specified patient population.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to other health care team members and assume responsibility for follow-up and collaboration.
  • Perform admission assessment process per department standards, including patient history, physical, and psycho-social assessment. Utilize assessment data, diagnostic data, pharmacological information and patient/family perceptions in formulating nursing diagnoses and goals of care.
  • Develop a plan of care mutually established with the patient and family. Review priorities with the patient each shift.
  • Implement the plan of care according to current standards of nursing practice, evidence-based practice, and hospital protocol/procedures.
  • Maintain a safe environment and collaborate with the healthcare team to achieve patient care outcomes.
  • Administer medications and nursing treatments within scope of practice.
  • Incorporate the organization s Comfort/C.A.R.E. Professional Practice Model into daily nursing care.
Patient Education
  • Assess and choose teaching strategies appropriate to the patient s and family s age, culture, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
  • Consult appropriate hospital resources to provide specialized education.
  • Demonstrate commitment to patient and workplace safety by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting concerns immediately.
  • Incorporate patient/family teaching throughout hospitalization, including plan and goals of care, pre- and post-operative procedures, diagnostic procedures, and discharge teaching.
  • Integrate preventative health maintenance into the education plan.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or a compact state
  • Current BCLS
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking English
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Proficiency in necessary nursing procedures and use of equipment
  • Ability to complete basic computer training on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Ability to use usual and customary equipment to perform essential functions of the position
