Looking for a career in healthcare that helps people and contributes to the well-being of others? Explore more than 10 career pathways and college majors at Kirkwood Community College that allow you to fast track into the careers in a variety of Health professions.

Students will learn about direct patient care roles that help patients’ regain mobility, assist with rehabilitation, or manage chronic conditions while working in various settings such as hospitals, clinics, schools, outpatient facilities and private practice. Students will also learn about a variety of careers with indirect patient contact housed within an administrative office setting. Health Careers Academy offers hands-on career exploration, allows students to engage with current healthcare professionals, learn the language of medicine, and earn relevant college credits for a variety of healthcare programs at Kirkwood Community College.

Students are required to have the following vaccinations to be eligible for clinical experience:
Hepatitis B vaccination series, MMR, TDAP, Varicella, seasonal Influenza, and a two-step or annual TB test.
