EHS Specialist
The EHS Specialist will help meet the demands of both safety and environmental compliance for the Company. The EHS Specialist will assist with environmental data collection, consolidation, and report preparation.
Key ResponsibilitiesResults | 50%
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all safety and environmental related issues and programs, maintains knowledge of laws, and upholds compliance of all company programs, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Develops and implements safety policies, incentive programs, and processes.
- Administers and develops up-to-date employee environmental and safety training, including Safety Orientation for new employees, Safety training for management, OSHA-required training, and other company-specific programs.
- Manages internal audits to reduce hazards and risk. Leads incident investigations to determine root cause and implement any necessary changes in process, equipment, or environment to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
Productivity / Job Knowledge
- Manages workers compensation cases. Implements measures that support effective injury/illness case management and return-to-work programs.
- Drives safety communications related to safety metrics, goals, audits, incidents, and policy updates throughout the organization to propel a positive safety culture.
- Participates in the review of new and modified processes, equipment, and environment at the proposal and/or design phase to ensure that safety hazards are recognized and that any necessary controls are implemented.
- Manages the response to regulatory compliance activities, including on-site inspections, written complaints, notices of violation, etc.
- Facilitates the engagement of appropriate individuals within the organization to assist with program development, implementation, and maintenance. This includes clarifying the roles of others who will assist with or lead each program; assuring the development of prioritized action plans with timetables for execution; and participating in the development of specific procedures and methods.

Requirements
Qualifications and Essential
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational HSE discipline, Science or Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Functional safety knowledge in regulatory requirements, safety technical aspects (safety, industrial hygiene, environmental), risk management, behavior-based safety, training, regulatory agency enforcement.
- Experience in metal fabrication and/or equipment manufacturing environment preferred.
- Professional Safety certification or the desire to attain certification (CIH, CSP, CHMM, etc.)
