An Electrical Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of electrical systems and equipment in various projects and manufacturing processes. The primary focus of this role is to inspect, test, and assess electrical components and installations, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulations, and the organization's internal quality requirements. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections and tests on electrical systems, components, and equipment to verify functionality and adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure electrical systems are built and maintained to the highest standards. Develop and enforce quality control procedures and guidelines to prevent defects and ensure product reliability.
- Stay updated with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure all electrical work complies with safety guidelines and local laws.
- Accurately document inspection and testing results, create inspection reports, and maintain detailed records of quality control processes. Report any non‑compliance issues and work with relevant teams to address and rectify them.
- Continuously assess and identify opportunities to improve quality control processes, methodologies, and practices to enhance efficiency and reduce potential risks.
- Oversee and manage the calibration and maintenance of electrical testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide training and support on quality control procedures and best practices.
- Investigate and perform root cause analysis for any quality‑related issues or failures, providing recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
- Assess and evaluate the performance of electrical component suppliers, ensuring their products meet the required quality standards.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects, and smooth operation of department.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, quality control, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications and technical training are advantageous.
- Proven experience in quality control within the electrical industry, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or engineering projects.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and inspection techniques.
- Document review (submittals, drawings, coordination, checklists).
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, ISO 9001).
- Work inspection (all work installed).
- Document writing (checklists).
- Issue resolution (writing issues, tracking punch list items, driving field team).
- Field assistance as required (training where common issues are found and training could help reduce or eliminate further issues).
- Travel (75‑100% travel as required).
- Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in using computer software and applications related to quality control and documentation.
May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures and all‑weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switch gear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic. It involves confined spaces and work on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, ditches and excavations, and in and around multi‑story buildings with exposures typical of a heavy construction site.
