As a Sushi Clerk, you will fill customer orders, handle food safely, order and receive products, and perform the necessary stocking and labeling duties. You will also provide courteous and efficient customer service to our customers and teammates.
Responsibilities- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
- Smile and greet customers on the sales floor.
- Learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible.
- Assist customers with locating items, carrying heavy items, and lifting items from storage.
- Handle telephone calls and take customer orders at the Chinese Express counter.
- Work as part of a team to maintain a pleasant work environment and review orders for the day.
- Perform proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
- Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
- Pull products from cooler/freezer for preparation and put them away after checking in.
- Remove trash promptly and adhere to company policies and store guidelines.
- Report to work on time.
- Wash dishes as necessary.
- Order products and supplies as needed.
- Price products for customers.
- Deliver orders and assist in other store areas as requested.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition and subtraction).
- Ability to write and communicate requests verbally or in writing.
High school diploma or equivalent, Food Safety certification, and at least six months of similar or related experience.
Physical Requirements- Exert up to 50 pounds, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
- Vision requirements for safety and product handling.
- Perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
Continuous exposure to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, temperature extremes, and occasional cleaning chemicals. Fast‑paced environment with significant pressure.
Equipment UsedScale, shrink wrap machine, Telexon re‑ordering machine, walk‑in cooler, knives, and serving cases.
ContactsDaily contact with internal customers and the public; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors; occasional contact with federal, state, or regulatory agencies.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
