As a Security Officer - Full Time - Evenings in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security‑related incidents.

You will check access points, observe production and warehouse activity, document key events, and communicate clearly with site personnel. Bring an agile, reliable, and innovative mindset while supporting a caring, people‑first culture built on teamwork and integrity.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, drivers, and visitors by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of manufacturing and industrial areas, production spaces, warehouses, yards, and perimeter lines to help deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Control access at gates, entrances, and designated check points by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining visitor, contractor, and delivery logs.
  • Monitor cameras, alarm systems, and other site equipment when assigned, and report irregular conditions according to post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, including suspicious activity, disturbances, medical situations, and fire‑related alarms, and notify site leadership and/or public responders as directed.
  • Perform inbound and outbound vehicle observations when assigned, including documenting trailer numbers, seal status, and delivery or pickup details in accordance with site procedures.
  • Support loss prevention and asset protection efforts by observing for theft indicators, policy noncompliance, and unauthorized removal of materials, and escalating concerns through the chain of command.
  • Document patrol activity, incidents, and follow‑up actions using written reports, activity logs, and/or electronic reporting tools with clear, timely, and accurate information.
  • Communicate professionally with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership, providing status updates, incident notifications, and shift turnover information.
  • Maintain a professional presence, follow post orders, and assist with building rules compliance regarding restricted areas, badge display requirements, and controlled access zones.
Minimum Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
