Senior Cyber Engineer

Position Overview

Senior Systems Security (Cybersecurity) Engineer – Cedar Rapids, IA. Onsite role requiring active, transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance on day one, with potential to obtain Top Secret after start. U.S. citizenship required.

• Support development of RMF documents and controls validation testing for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations.
• Ensure proposed system changes are reviewed so modifications do not adversely affect security.
• Implement security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements.
• Support development of cybersecurity requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies.
• Analyze collected cybersecurity data and test results.
• Provide on‑site security engineering, systems administration, and information assurance support to the program.
• Work with Software Engineer and/or System Engineer to implement cybersecurity policies, harden the system, and document findings.

You will become a more effective Systems Security Engineer and leader by gaining niche skills that set you apart. You will develop subject‑matter expertise and leadership in cybersecurity across varied business lines.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.
• Active, transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued clearance on day one, with ability to obtain Top Secret.
• Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) as described in NIST SP 800‑37.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering requirements, specifications, and experience implementing DoD and Federal IA certification and accreditation processes.
• Experience developing and maintaining certification and accreditation documentation.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Security Center, STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker/Tools.
• Familiarity with Linux commands.

• Active, transferable top‑secret DoD clearance.
• DoDI 8570.01‑M IAT Level‑II Certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).
• Previous experience with Program Protection Plans (PPP) DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39.
• Experience with implementing highly technical solutions and reporting their importance to program managers and stakeholders.
