Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to support fiber installation and maintenance projects at data center facilities across Ohio, Kentucky, and Texas. This role involves extensive travel and extended deployments, with hands‑on splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. You will work both independently and as part of a field team to support mission‑critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on single mode and multi‑mode fiber.
- Conduct OTDR, light source, and power meter testing for network verification.
- Read and interpret fiber network maps, splice diagrams, and construction prints.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber damage, splice enclosures, patch panels, and related components.
- Maintain accurate test results, splice logs, and project documentation.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards, safety guidelines, and client specifications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, data center teams, and field staff.
- Work in various field environments, including outdoor sites, manholes, pedestals, and elevated work platforms.
- Prior experience as a fiber optic splicer.
- Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, and fiber test equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow construction plans and splice documentation.
- Willingness to travel overnight for extended periods (Minimum 10‑day deployments).
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in diverse weather and jobsite conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ribbon splicing experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with wire harness assembly, cable routing, Cat 6 cables, and fiber optic installation.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a construction environment, requiring comfort working in all weather conditions. You will engage in nationwide traveling projects, with splicing crews of up to 20 members. The owner is hands‑on and works closely with the crews in the field, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
