Power Up Electric is a locally owned residential electrical company serving homeowners throughout Eastern Iowa. We are known for honest service, quality workmanship, clear communication, and doing work the right way. As our company grows, we are looking for an Apprentice Electrician who wants to keep learning, work hard, and build a long‑term career in the electrical trade.

Power Up Electric is hiring an Apprentice Electrician to support residential electrical service, repair, installation, and troubleshooting work. This position is a good fit for someone with at least 1 year of electrical experience who wants to continue developing their skills under experienced electricians while working in real homes with real customers.

The ideal candidate is reliable, coachable, hard‑working, and professional. You should be comfortable working with tools, following instructions, helping keep jobs organized, and learning how to complete safe, clean, code‑compliant electrical work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed electricians with residential electrical installations, repairs, inspections, and service work
  • Help with troubleshooting, wiring, lighting, outlets, panels, fixtures, generators, EV chargers, and other residential projects
  • Prepare tools, materials, and work areas for each job
  • Follow instructions from lead electricians and complete assigned tasks safely
  • Maintain clean, organized, and respectful job sites
  • Help protect customers' homes by working neatly and professionally
  • Learn company standards, electrical codes, safety procedures, and best practices
  • Communicate clearly with team members and customers when needed
  • Support accurate job documentation and material tracking
  • Travel to job locations throughout the assigned service area
Qualifications
  • 1+ year of electrical or construction experience preferred
  • Interest in residential electrical service, repair, and installation work
  • Iowa apprentice/unclassified electrical registration preferred, or willingness to obtain required registration if needed
  • Valid driver's license that meets company insurance requirements
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Comfortable working in homes and interacting respectfully with customers

    Able to follow directions, ask good questions, and take feedback
  • Travel within Eastern Iowa (typically within 60-90 minutes of Cedar Rapids)
  • Flexible with schedule needs, including occasional extended hours or weekend work when required
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in residential job site conditions
