PURPOSETypical unskilled assignments of pre-apprentices may include, but are not limited to, material handling, loading and unloading, set‑up, staging, clean‑up and site organization. These tasks must be performed under the direct supervision of a journeyman. Additionally, a pre-apprentice may perform low‑skilled work with or without hand tools at the direction of his or her supervising journeyman. Pre-apprentices are traditionally not allowed to operate power equipment, welders, or perform layout or design services.
Performs related work as required.
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Restock supplies and materials, stage materials
- Deliver tools, materials or equipment
- Clean tools, company vehicles, and clean up, sweep, and keep work areas organized
- Accurate daily time and equipment reporting
- High school graduate or GED
- Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Take directions from journeyman and follow through with task given
- Must be dependable (show up and ready to work on time)
- Must be able to communicate with leaders and co‑workers
At any given time, may be exposed to:
- Exposure to weather, heat, cold
- Wet and/or humid
- Vibration
- Exposure to dust/fumes
- Noise intensity – Loud
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts
- Exposure to electrical shock
- Working in high/exposed places
- Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals
- Tape measure
- Straight snips
- Crescent wrench
