Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Work Hours
800 am – 430 pm Monday – Friday, Saturdays & Sundays and callouts as needed.
Responsibilities- Perform service and repairs on construction equipment in the field for Altorfer’s customers.
- Troubleshoot and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems.
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner to find diagnostic errors, technical problems, and determine proper solutions.
- Establish and maintain a service oriented relationship with customers and supervisors.
- Order parts in equipment parts books or online.
- Complete service reports and enter the proper data into the computer systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work overtime and some weekends when needed.
- Successful completion of a formal technical training program with a minimum of four years’ experience in a service setting.
- Must have engine, electrical, hydraulic, transmission and diagnostic troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Computer literacy required; familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel, Outlook, and CAT programs.
- Must be a self‑starter with good time management.
- Excellent planning & organizational skills required.
- Must be team oriented and willing to adapt to change.
- CDL with air brake required. Must have a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication skills (written, e‑mail, and verbal) are necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and provide your own tools.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no more than two minor violations within the past three years, and no major violations within the past five years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).
This position works in a field/shop environment primarily at customer jobsites. It may involve walking, bending and lifting up to 75 lbs continuously. You will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses or side shields, hearing protection, etc.) for a given situation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
